Two Women
Once there were two women, clever and young,
Bound by a friendship where laughter was sung.
One had a gift for numbers, sharp and wise,
The other surpassed her, with stars in her eyes.

Two women, both radiant like ice and fire,
One’s beauty was striking, the other’s inspired.
Men gathered ‘round, bewitched by their grace,
Yet one longed for the other’s charm to embrace.

One day they met a lad, tall and fair,
With golden hair and eyes that could snare.
He smiled at one, then kissed the other,
And friendship wavered, their bond to smother.

Ashes of trust scattered in their wake,
As jealousy blossomed for love’s fleeting sake.
But what is the worth of a fleeting flame,
When it leaves two hearts to shoulder the blame?

They turned from the lad, his charm grown thin,
And found their strength where it had always been.
No man could sever the bond they’d grown—
Their friendship endured, a love of their own.
